The National Honor Society (NHS) is a national recognition program that celebrates holistic assessment of student achievement. It empowers and equips students with the knowledge and skills to be transformative leaders in their school, community, and beyond.

 

NHS has four pillars that all members must exemplify: scholarship, leadership, service and character. More than mere badges of honor for NHS members, these principles are transformative keys that unlock potential, enhancing every student’s educational journey, and ultimately empowering them to make profound, enduring contributions to our world.

Information Session(s): Monday, 02/26 during Enrichment in the Cybrary (attending an information session is not mandatory to apply for NHS membership) → you need to obtain an Enrichment pass from Ms. Ohanian (room 1318) at the beginning of snack on Monday, 02/26 in order to attend the information session

Eligibility:

  • 10th, 11th and 12th graders

*Important Information:

**You do NOT need to reapply each semester if you are accepted into NHS. Students who are not initially selected may reapply again each semester for consideration of NHS membership until the second semester of their senior year. Once students have been accepted into NHS, they are granted lifetime membership and do not need to reapply thereafter (students only need to be accepted once to obtain lifetime membership).**

**A five-member Faculty Selection Committee reviews the applications and rates them on Leadership and Community Service. The staff of CMHS rates the applicants on Character.**

**Students will be notified of acceptance or nonselection via GUSD e-mail**

Application:

***DIRECTIONS:

  1. MAKE A COPY OF THE CANDIDATE INFORMATION FORM (application) from Google Docs using your @stu.gusd.net account (Click on ‘File’ → ‘Make a Copy’)
  2. RENAME THE DOCUMENT with your first name, last name, and your ID # in parentheses (then click on ‘Make a Copy’ again to save your work) → **EXAMPLE: Erebuni Ohanian (123456)
  3. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION. Type your responses onto your copy of the application on Google Docs. Do NOT modify the template by changing the margins, fonts or tables, It is already formatted and ready for your use.
  4. Once you complete your application on Google Docs, CREATE A PDF VERSION OF YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION (Click on ‘File → ‘Download’ → ’PDF Document (.pdf)’).
  5. UPLOAD YOUR PDF FILE USING THE ONLINE GOOGLE FORM LINK.
  6. ONLY SUBMIT THE PDF VERSION OF YOUR APPLICATION ONE TIME (NO DUPLICATES ARE NECESSARY)
