Community Service

Clark Magnet High School Community Service Guidelines

  • Community Service must be non-paid.
  • Community Service must be with a non-profit organization.
  • Working with a family member does not count as community service.
  • Community Service is not allowed at private homes.
  • Community Service cannot be performed during school instructional hours (lunch and after school is okay).
  • Students may volunteer for political campaigns and voter registration programs.
  • Students may volunteer at hospital, libraries, museums, animal resuess/animal shelter, homeless shelters, retirement and convalescent homes.
  • Students can earn community service hours by volunteering at various school events, such as Freshman Orientation, Back to School Night, the Clark Expo, Senior Project Judging Day, and graduation. However, this opportunity is only available to those who are not members of the organization supporting the event.
  • Community Service does not count at any (for profit) business including doctors, dentists, pharmacies, veterinarians, private music schools, art schools, college prep academies, dance academies, private day cares or private nursery schools. Work performed at a business is considered an internship not Community Service.
  • Community service hours are limited to 5 per school day, but may be extended to 8 hours per day on weekends, during summer, and on holidays.

If you’re unsure whether something counts towards community service, please contact Ms. Shahverdian.
