Scholarship Opportunities

All Scholarships require current Seniors to complete and submit their financial aid application (FAFSA).  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be submitted beginning October 1 -March 2nd annually.  All seniors need to apply for financial aid even if attending Community College in the Fall. Class of 2025, be sure to choose the correct college year: 2025-2026 you will begin college 7/1/25 (approximate date).

All Senior students should be searching for Scholarships and applying for them (see links below). There are many search possibilities – google your specific major, college, community service, etc.  Come see Mrs. Bondy during snack and lunch! Never pay a fee to apply for any scholarship!

The Hagan Scholarship - has the potential for $7,500 - per Semester!  Applications are due before Sunday,  December 1,2024!  Criteria - 3.5 or above GPA. Must enroll in an eligible four-year college following high school graduation. Applicants must work 240 hours from January 1, 2025 until 9/2/25Applicant's adjusted gross household income reported for 2023, must not exceed $100,000. Applicants must apply for FAFSA and Cal Grant and any other Federal/State college assistance student may be eligible for.

The 2025 PTA Graduating High School Senior Scholarship application period is now OPEN 

Two scholarships are available for your application:

  • Volunteer Service Scholarship — This scholarship recognizes graduating seniors for their volunteer service in schools and communities, allowing them to register for courses at accredited colleges, universities, and trade, or technical schools. Applicants must be PTA members graduating from a California high school between January 1 and June 30 of the current academic year.   APPLY HERE
  • $500 Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship – Honoring the volunteer and public-service legacy of Dr. Ralph E. White and his wife, Eleanor, this additional scholarship provides $500 each to two successful applicants of the Volunteer Service Scholarship who intend to pursue a career in the medical field.

Applications for the Volunteer Service Scholarship, reference forms/letters, and all supporting documents must be received in the California State PTA office by February 01, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. (PST). All applicants are notified of their status in March. Scholarship winners receive a letter of congratulations and a recognition certificate from California State PTA along with a check. Community Foundation of the Verdugos offers eight different scholarships. CFVERDUGOS WEBSITE    Online application will open December 1, 2025 - due date is March 4, 2025! Keep in mind they will require letters of recommendation and your official transcript.  You will need to plan ahead and get it submitted BEFORE the deadline!
